Publication Date: 10/26/2012
1952 football game
Each year, the Rhodes Lynx take on the Sewanee Tigers for bragging rights to the Edmund Orgill Trophy. Orgill received honorary degrees from both schools and served on their trustee boards and this trophy game dates back to 1954. This annual matchup of Rhodes and The University of the South (Sewanee) actually dates back to 1899.
Rhodes alumnus John Churchill ’71 recently published an article in the Memphis Flyer about how the game has shaped lives.
The two teams will face each other Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1:30 p.m. (CDT) at The University of the South. It’s going to be a day of collegiate football fun. Go Lynx!
