Publication Date: 10/23/2012

Rhodes students Noor Eltayech ’14, Lucy Sumrall ’14, Ben Priday ’15, Kevin Sierra ’14, Jenna Sullivan ’15, and Micah Leonard ’15 are leading an effort on campus Oct. 24 to benefit the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA.)

The students plan to fast all day and donate the money that could have been spent on food that day to MIFA. The fast will break at 6:10 p.m. in the McCallum Ballroom of the Bryan Campus Life Center and will be followed by Rhodes Professor Mark Muesse discussing the relevance of fasting and then the students speaking about fasting in their different religious traditions.

The students’ participation in the fast is part of Inter-Faith Youth Core’s Better Together which mobilizes college students to voice their values, engage with others, and act together to make the world a better place for everyone.

Individuals who also would like to participate can contact at Noor Eltayech at eltno@rhodes.edu.
