Films Based on Works by Charles Dickens Is Focus of Meeman Center Series

This year marks the 200th birthday anniversary of Charles Dickens. The prolific and well-loved author is known for works such as A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.
Beginning Oct. 27, Rhodes’ Meeman Center will present the series “Movies at the Meeman: Celebrating Charles Dickens’ 200th Birthday.” Three films based on the author’s works will be shown on Saturday afternoons at 2 p.m. in the Meeman Center, located in King Hall. The discussions will be led by John Rone, Meeman Center Director.
The films are:
Oct. 27, “David Copperfield” (1935)
Nov. 3, “A Tale of Two Cities” (1936)
Nov. 10, “Oliver!” (1968)
The cost to enroll for all three films is $99. One can also sign up for individual films. To register call (901) 843-3965.
