Rhodes Set To Institute Women’s Varsity Lacrosse

Publication Date: 10/9/2012

Rhodes College is proud to announce it will add women’s varsity lacrosse to its Lynx roster beginning the 2013-14 season. The college has sponsored men’s varsity lacrosse since 2011.

“Many thanks to President Troutt and the president’s staff for their decision to add women’s lacrosse,” says Mike Clary, director of athletics at Rhodes. “Women’s lacrosse will provide more opportunities for Rhodes students, specifically women, to have a great experience in a varsity sport.”

Says Courtney Haller ’15, “At practice, the women’s lacrosse club players were all talking about lacrosse becoming a varsity sport, and so I can assure you that this means a lot to us as a team! I look forward to the season to come.”

A national search will begin immediately with a goal of hiring a full-time women’s lacrosse coach by Dec. 1, 2012. Rhodes is a NCAA Division III member of the Southern Athletic Association.

Coaches interested in the position are asked to visit the Rhodes Human Resources Office website for a job description and application instructions.
