Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale to Perform in Austria

Dr. William Skoog, chair of the Rhodes Department of Music and director of choral activities, will serve as co-artistic director and conductor for a large international chorus featured at the Mozart International Choral Festival in Salzburg, Austria this summer. Members of the Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale will participate as part of this chorus at the event to be held at 8 p.m. on June 30 in the historic Salzburg Dom, featuring the orchestra from the Dom.

Selections include Mozart’s “Missa Solemnis” in C (K337), Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna,” and African-American spirituals by composer Moses Hogan, in an eclectic program of American and Western classical works. Janos Czifra, music director at the Dom will conduct the Mozart, Skoog will conduct the works by the American composers. The festival choir will then continue on, performing formal concerts in Vienna and Prague. Jane Gamble will serve as organist for the tour, soloists include James Cornfoot and Dorothy Wells.
