Alumnus Welch Suggs To Make Appearance in Sports Documentary On Title IX Anniversary

On June 23, the ESPN network is airing the documentary “Sporting Chance: The Lasting Legacy of Title IX” which tells the history of Title IX and explores how this law has paved the way for equity in education and athletics, especially for women. Rhodes 1995 alumnus and sports journalist Welch Suggs is interviewed in the documentary.
Suggs, who is author of a book on the history of Title IX and sports, is an associate professor of journalism at University of Georgia as well as a consultant at Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. He holds a bachelor′s degree in philosophy from Rhodes.
June 23 marks the 40th anniversary of Title IX. Click here for ESPN channels and air times.
