Publication Date: 6/6/2012
Ambitious high school juniors and seniors will be on campus June 10-22 for the Rhodes College Summer Writing Institute, an intensive residential academic program committed to developing critical thinking and writing skills.
Sponsored by Rhodes′ Department of English, the Institute also engages faculty from other college disciplines to introduce students to a variety of subjects. Through class discussions and peer workshops, each professor guides students in creating their own writing, expressing ideas, finding a voice, discovering a style, building a structure, and developing a theme or position. Social and evening activities also are included in the schedule.
Upon successful completion of the Institute, participants have a portfolio of college-level writing and earn two transferable college credits.
