Novikoff Publishes Lead Article in Prestigious Journal

Alex Novikoff, assistant professor of history at Rhodes, has published the lead article, “Toward a Cultural History of Scholastic Disputation” in the American Historical Review, the official publication of the American Historical Association and considered to be the most influential historical journal in the world.
The article is in the April issue and tackles one of the most fundamental and characteristic features of medieval learning, arguing that it had large implications for the cultural history of the period. Novikoff has taught at Rhodes since 2008 and specializes in medieval intellectual and cultural history, historiography, and Christian-Muslim-Jewish relations.
