McKenna Lewellen ’14 Named a Theological Education Undergraduate Fellow
Publication Date: 4/18/2012
Religious studies major McKenna Lewellen ’14 has been selected as a 2012 Theological Education Undergraduate Fellow. The undergraduate fellowships, presented by The Fund for Theological Education (FTE), recognize gifted student leaders exploring ministry as a vocation.
Every year, FTE awards about 150 new fellowships to students to fund their exploration or preparation for pastoral ministry and for teaching in the theological academy. Fellows will attend the Leaders in Ministry Conference in June.
“Receiving the FTE undergraduate fellowship is an incredible honor and opportunity,” says Lewellen. “I am very grateful for the encouragement of Dr. Kendra Hotz and Chaplain Walt Tennyson who supported me in the application process. I look forward to meeting the other fellows in Nashville this summer and diving deeper into the call to vocational ministry.”
At Rhodes, Lewellen is a member of the Rhodes Chamber Singers, a section leader in Rhodes Singers and on the leadership team for Rhodes Christian Fellowship. As a Bonner Scholar, she has participated in service efforts that explore community narrative and identity in the Binghampton and Highland Heights neighborhoods of Memphis.
