Corbin Williams ’14 Stars in Playhouse on the Square Production

Rhodes sophomore Corbin Williams plays the role of “Henry” In Playhouse on the Square’s production, “Next to Normal.”
"Working with this cast has truly been an amazing experience,” says Williams who is pursuing an interdisciplinary major in music and theatre at Rhodes, “Everyone puts so much emotion and passion into each performance of this show that you can′t help but be taken on the incredible journey that this story has to offer. I′ve learned so much from working with Gary John and my fellow cast mates and have grown exponentially as an actor and a professional. This is one of the most moving shows that I have been privileged to be a part of and I hope the Memphis community is able to experience it and be as moved and inspired as I have."
Winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three Tony Awards in 2009, "Next to Normal" is about a suburban mother suffering from bipolar disorder who decides to stop taking her medication. As a result, her family confronts memories they have each avoided and goes to great lengths to hold their world together.
Williams plays the boyfriend of one of the family members.
The production at Playhouse on the Square runs through Feb. 12 with performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. For more information and ticket prices, visit here.
