Carolina Sánchez-Hervás ’12 Named 2012 IES Abroad Ambassador of the Year

Rhodes senior Carolina Sánchez-Hervás has been named one of two 2012 IES Abroad Ambassadors of the Year. She is being recognized for her commitment to the promotion of study abroad as well as clear demonstration of intercultural competence.
Part of a group of approximately 700 alumni volunteers known as IES Abroad Ambassadors, she participated IES’ fall 2010 study abroad program in Rome. While studying in Rome, Sánchez-Hervás made a lasting impression on Slow Food Rome, the organization with which she was an intern. The organization advocates for good, clean and fair food and farming policy, and as result of her internship, Sánchez-Herváswas named the US Ambassador to Slow Food Rome, and she organized Slow Food events in Memphis.
In addition, she has tirelessly touted the benefits of international study at Rhodes Study Abroad Fairs, as a Rhodes International Peer Advisor, and through phoning campaigns as an IES Abroad Ambassador.

Sánchez-Hervás will receive from IES a number of prizes as well as well as an invitation to the IES Abroad Annual Conference in Chicago in October.
