Two Rhodes Alumni To Receive Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships

Publication Date: 10/20/2011

Two Rhodes College alumni have been selected to receive Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships for 2012-2013. They are Mikkel Quam ’09 and Anna Laymon ’11.

Established in 1947, the Ambassadorial Scholarships program furthers international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas. While abroad, scholars serve as ambassadors of goodwill and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups in the host country. Upon returning home, they share with Rotarians and others their experiences that have led to a greater understanding of the country.

Quam, who majored in biology at Rhodes, has been assigned to Berlin, Germany, where he will be attending a graduate program in public health. Laymon, who majored in international studies, has been assigned to Melbourne, Australia, where she plans to attend the University of Melbourne.
