Homecoming and Reunion Weekend Oct. 21-22

Rhodes College, founded in 1848 and located in Memphis, Tenn., since 1925, will celebrate Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, Oct. 21-22.

All alumni are encouraged to attend the Homecoming Reception beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, in the Bryan Campus Life Center and the noon picnic on Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Rollow Avenue of Oaks.

New this year is the Saturday parade that will run from Phillips Lane to Fargason Field on campus where the homecoming football game will be played. Student-designed floats will be judged at noon with the actual parade beginning at 1 p.m.

The local community is invited to help fill the stands for the game at 2 p.m. when Rhodes will take on Austin College. At halftime, winners of the Mr. and Ms. Rhodes election will be announced, and the 2011 inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame recognized. They are Tommy Clinton ’61, Arnie Pittman ’67, David Maddux ’87, Thomas Johnson ’94, Albert Johnson ’96, Emily Burch (Crocker) ’01, Becky Harper (Dickey) ’01, and the 1985 Women’s Tennis Team.

Alumni Association Award recipients who will be recognized at homecoming festivities include:

  • Young Alumna of the Year-Pamela Casey ’03
  • Distinguished Alumnus Award-Dr. Brian R. Wamhoff ’96
  • Distinguished Service Award-Jeremiah Guccione ’99
  • Black Student Association Distinguished Alumnus Award-Dorothy Wells ’82
  • Volunteer of the Year-Colin Cox ’09

During the weekend, alumni also will have the opportunity to attend performances, class reunion parties, and networking events as well as earn continuing education credits for business and law lectures.
