Excellence in Advising

Publication Date: 9/21/2011

Regina Simmons, director of New Student Programs at Rhodes, has been honored for Excellence in Advising by Mortar Board National.

This celebrated distinction is presented to advisors “who provide exceptional support to help the chapter achieve goals, serving as a role model and demonstrating constant leadership, professionalism and spirit of service.”

Comments for her nomination included:

Her constant support allowed the officers to write and affect the chapter’s revision plan.

She sends members YouTube clips on leadership, recommend leadership readings and puts members in touch with alumni of the chapter for networking purposes.

Emails and notes of support to officers demonstrate her spirited positivism.

Unwavering commitment characterizes her three years of service to the Torch chapter.

Founded in 1918, Mortar Board provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities, and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. The Torch chapter at Rhodes was chartered in 1964.
