Memphis Area Library Council Honors Bill Short

Publication Date: 4/12/2011

Bill Short, Barret Library’s Coordinator of Public Services at Rhodes and an award-winning member of the Memphis theatre community, is the 2011 recipient of the Award of Excellence presented by the Memphis Area Library Council. He will be honored April 14 at the annual joint meeting of the Special Libraries Association and the Memphis Area Library Council.

This award is presented annually to a library staff member in the greater Memphis area who has demonstrated dedication to the profession, notable academic and professional accomplishments, contributed to professional organizations, and been involved in community activities.

“Bill is the consummate librarian,” says Barret Library Director Darlene Brooks. “He brings to work every day the values that Rhodes College holds as important—good customer service, knowledge from an expert in the field, and a willingness to continue to learn and grow.  To the highest degree, Bill deserves this honor.”

A 1971 Rhodes alumnus, Short has served on the Rhodes staff for over 35 years.
