The Torch chapter of Mortar Board at Rhodes has been honored for excellence by Mortar Board National.

The group is one of 77 chapters to receive the Silver Torch Award presented to chapters that meet chapter management standards while exemplifying the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service. Chapter Vice President Andrew Millis accepted the award on behalf of Rhodes.
 
Founded in 1918, Mortar Board provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities, and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. The Torch chapter at Rhodes was chartered in 1964.
