Rhodes Alumna Becomes a Fellow in American Psychiatric Association

Beth Baxter, M.D., of Nashville has been named a Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association (APA) by the Board of Trustees, acting upon recommendation of the Membership Committee. According to the announcement from the APA, “the honor reflects Dr. Baxter’s dedication to the work of the American Psychiatric Association and the psychiatric profession.”
Baxter earned a bachelor of science degree from Rhodes in 1985. She received her graduate medical training at Vanderbilt University and did her psychiatry residency training at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.
She maintains a private clinical psychiatry practice in Nashville and has spoken publicly about her dual roles as mental health care consumer and provider. Baxter remains active in local and national organizations that focus on expanding education, treatment, and advocacy for individuals with mental illness.
