Independent Film “One Came Home” Features Theatre Professor in Starring Role

Rhodes Theatre Professor Julia “Cookie” Ewing will star in the independent feature, “One Came Home,” to publicly premiere May 7 at Malco′s Studio on the Square. Among the cast are Judith Rutschman, retired from the Rhodes I.T. department, and Janice Tankersley of the Barret Library staff. 

Shot in Memphis and at the nearby Davies Manor Plantation, the film is set in 1946 Mississippi. Ewing portrays the matriarch of a Mississippi family who has lost a son just weeks prior to the end of World War II. John Mazilli, a war buddy of the son, comes to visit the family and shares with them information about their son′s life and death during the war. During the course of his stay, Mazilli guides family members and townspeople to understand life more deeply.

Written by Willy Bearden and Tankersly and directed by Bearden, the film will be shown through May 13. View the trailer.
