Men’s Track and Field Team Captures SCAC Championship

For the first time in 15 years, the Rhodes Men′s Track & Field team members were crowned the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) champions. Winning with a grand total of 162 points, 22 points ahead of runner up Depauw, the Lynx outlasted the thunderstorms and foul weather in the competition held April 23-24 in Conway, Ark.
Outstanding individual performances abounded over the span of the two-day meet. Event champions include co-captain Greg Cook in the javelin, Andrew Maryott in the hammer throw, co-captain Anson Purdy in the 400m hurdles, and the 4x100m relay team of Kevin Stechler, Cory Dardenne, Josh McMurray and Greg Palm.
Also, congratulations to the Rhodes Women’s Track & Field team for winning the SCAC championship meet in Conway, Ark. It is the team’s third consecutive conference title.
