Publication Date: 2/2/2010

Rhodes ranks first out of 12 schools for the total number of student-athletes named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Academic Honor Roll for fall 2009.  Rhodes had 101 student-athletes to make the list.

SCAC announced Friday a record 780 student-athletes to make the 2009 SCAC Fall Academic Honor Roll. To qualify, an athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.

SCAC began recognizing the academic accomplishments of its athletes in the fall of 1997. Out of 12 institutions, Rhodes has ranked third in the SCAC all-sports standings 9 of the past 10 years.

Says Mike Clary, “Our coaches are grateful for the support faculty and staff provide our student-athletes, and as the Director of Athletics, I am thankful to work with coaches who emphasize academic achievement, as well as athletic success.”
