Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate
What’s the advantage of Advanced Placement / International Baccalaureate credits?
We think it’s critical to your intellectual development that you are assigned classes that will challenge you. If you have taken AP or IB classes in high school, you may be ready to move to the next level of coursework when you enter college.
How do I know if I can receive course credit or advanced placement at Rhodes?
Submit your scores from all AP/IB examinations you have taken. Our Registrar’s Office will evaluate the scores and award appropriate credit.
- Entering students typically receive course credit and advanced placement for scores of 4 or 5 in a particular field on the Advanced Placement test.
- Students who score a 3 on the AP exam or perform satisfactorily on an examination prescribed and administered by a department may receive advanced placement.
- We typically grant course credit for each Higher Level International Baccalaureate Examination area passed with a score of 5–7.
- A listing of AP/IB credits awarded by field is available on the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Credit page on the Registrar’s website.
