3/28/2012 - Lecture by Professor John Copper
Professor John Copper, the senior member of the I.S. Department, presented a lecture entitled, “When China Rules the World.” Professor Copper, who is the Department’s Asian Politics expert, has been on sabbatical for the current academic year. He will officially retire from Rhodes in May 2012.
2/29/2012 - A Conversation with Bob Buckman
The International Studies Department at Rhodes hosted “A Conversation with Bob Buckman” for the Rhodes community in Blount Auditorium of Buckman Hall with Professor Steve Ceccoli serving as moderator.
Robert H. Buckman served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Bulab Holdings, Inc., the holding company of Buckman Laboratories from 1978 to 2000. A longtime member of the Rhodes College Board of Trustees and Rhodes benefactor, he holds degrees from Purdue University and the University of Chicago. In 2004, he published Building a Knowledge Driven Organization.
As the leader of a multinational, specialty chemical corporation, he has become an internationally renowned expert on knowledge sharing and knowledge management.
2/20/12 - What to do with an I.S. Major
The I.S. Department hosted its annual “What to do with an IS major?” discussion. The hour-long discussion featured several departmental alumni, back to share their career experiences since leaving Rhodes and provide some career tips.
2/3/12 - Lecture by Dr. Andrew A. Michta
Dr. Andrew Michta, on leave from Rhodes College and currently at the Marshall Center in Germisch, Germany returned as the guest of the International Studies Department to lecture on "Transatlantic Relations & U.S. Security Policy Priorities: Are We Leaving Europe Behind?" This lecture was free and open to the public
