Prof. Joy Brooke Fairfield Performs in Staged Reading at Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference

Prof. Joy Brooke Fairfield of the Department of Theatre performed the lead role in a staged reading of playwright Carey Crim’s “Never Not Once” at the annual conference of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE)  in Las Vegas on Aug. 7. Winner of the 2017 Jane Chambers Feminist Playwriting Competition, the play deals with the emotional consequences of sexual assault through the story of a woman who decides to find her father, the man who assaulted her mother in college.

Prof. Fairfield is a member of ATHE, Conference Planner for the LGBTQ Focus Group, and a professional dramaturg. Her performance in “Never Not Once” marks her ongoing contributions to new play development and to feminist performance studies.
