Dr. Seok-Won Lee of Rhodes Awarded Highly Competitive International Fellowship

Dr. Seok-Won Lee, assistant professor in Rhodes’ history department, has been awarded a 2014 Korea Foundation Field Research Fellowship. This is a highly competitive international fellowship that provides financial support for prominent scholars conducting field research in Korea. Only about 30 awards are made annually for periods of one to six months.

Lee is a specialist on the intellectual and cultural history of East Asia and teaches courses on a wide range of subject matter from traditional China to contemporary East Asia. He will use the three-month fellowship for research as a visiting scholar at Yonsei University, South Korea in the summer of 2014. His research focuses on Japanese intellectuals’ writings on Pan-Asianism and the East Asian Community between the 1920s and the 1940s.
