A 2015 chemistry alumna has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship. Jennifer Rote currently is pursuing a PhD in chemistry at Northwestern University. While at Rhodes she performed research with Profs. Mauricio Cafiero and Larryn Peterson.
Two Rhodes seniors, Katie Hatstat (chemistry and neuroscience) and Jessica Pillow (mathematics) received honorable mention in the NSF competition. Hatstat has had her work with Cafiero published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal twice. She has continued that work while doing honors research with Peterson. Pillow participated in an NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates last summer and has continued that work this year as her honors research.
The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program is to help ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
