Hughes Discusses Race and Country Music

Prof. Charles Hughes, Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Memphis Center, has discussed recent controversies surrounding the relationship between race and country music. A recent Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Prof. Hughes is on a two-year postdoctoral fellowship through the Memphis Center. Last spring he taught courses on “Elvis Presley and America” and “Collecting Memphis Histories.” This fall he will teach a survey history of Memphis.
