Prof. Hiatt Joins Department in August
Prof. Willie Hiatt will join the Department of History this year as a visiting assistant professor.
A specialist in Latin American history, Prof. Hiatt earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, and has spent the past year on a Guggenheim Fellowship at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. His dissertation focuses on aviation in Peru during the first half of the twentieth century.
Prof. Hiatt will offer three courses at Rhodes this fall. He will teach the 200-level survey on Colonial Latin America, a History 105 course on Latin American history and literature, and a 400-level seminar on truth commissions in Latin America.
Prof. Hiatt replaces Prof. Mike LaRosa, who is on sabbatical for the academic year 2009-2010. Prof. Hiatt′s office will be in Clough 311.
