Fine Arts Fellowships

If you’re an aspiring artist, musician, or actor—or are interested in arts leadership—you may qualify for one of two Rhodes fellowships focusing on the arts.

The CODA Fellowship is part of Rhodes’ Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA).

  • CODA Fellows—four per entering class—receive $12,500 each year.
  • Fellows participate in CODA at least 10 hours/week, developing their understanding of issues in arts leadership through association with faculty and community-based mentors.
  • CODA Fellows complete internships at local arts organizations.
  • You are not required to major in an arts field.
  • An interview is required to qualify for the CODA Fellows Program.

The Fine Arts Fellowship is available to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in art, music or theater.

  • Up to eight fellowships in the amount of $12,500 per year are available annually.
  • Students interested in music and theatre are required to audition, while art students must submit a portfolio of slides.
  • You are allowed to audition in more than one department as long as the guidelines for each department are followed.
  • Fine Arts Fellows are required to major or minor in a fine arts discipline while at Rhodes.

How do I apply for these fellowships?

  • Complete and submit an application for admission to Rhodes by January 15 (do not include arts fellowship materials with your general application).
  • Complete and submit the application form for your desired fellowship program by January 15 (for visual arts), January 21 (for CODA) or January 28 (for music or theatre):
