Fine Arts Scholarships/CODA Fellowship
If you’re an aspiring artist, musician, or actor—or are interested in arts leadership—you may qualify for one of two Rhodes scholarships and fellowships focusing on the arts.
The CODA Fellowship is part of Rhodes’ Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA).
- CODA Fellows—four per entering class—receive $13,000 each year.
- Fellows participate in CODA at least 10 hours/week, developing their understanding of issues in arts leadership through association with faculty and community-based mentors.
- CODA Fellows complete internships at local arts organizations.
- You are not required to major in an arts field.
- An interview is required to qualify for the CODA Fellows Program.
The Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship Awards are available to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in art, music or theatre.
Financial awards in the Fine and Performing Arts are available to incoming students in variable amounts, as scholarships in Art, Music and Theatre. The determination of the award is dependent upon acceptance to the college and a juried score based upon an audition (departments of Music and Theatre) or fine arts portfolio (Art Department). Please see the relevant departmental websites for audition or portfolio submission requirements, complete with procedures, dates, and contact information.
Financial awards will vary, depending on the total financial aid package and artistic potential as determined by audition or portfolio review. All awards recognize superior potential in the Fine Arts and are designed to encourage this development through the pursuit of a major or minor in the appropriate discipline.
How do I apply for these scholarships?
- Complete and submit an application for admission to Rhodes by January 15 (do not include arts scholarship materials with your general application).
- Complete and submit the appropriate scholarship/fellowship application (see below)
- Complete department-specific requirements and mail to the appropriate department as directed in the application.
- Applicants for CODA, music and theatre will be contacted to schedule interviews or auditions.
*If you qualify for one of these scholarships/fellowships and another competitive award, you will receive the greater of the two offered.
