Rhodes College is thrilled to welcome acclaimed author Markus
Zusak, author of the award-winning international bestseller The
    Book Thief.
Part of the 2017 Memphis Reads program, Zusak comes
to Rhodes for an interactive conversation about his book and the
larger questions it raises about language, love, bravery and the
memory of the Nazi regime and those who resisted it. Centered on
questions from the audience, this event will provide a unique
opportunity to engage with an acclaimed writer about his work and
    its inspirations.

First released in 2006, The Book Thief has remained on the New
York Times bestseller list since its publication. The book, which
was made into a major motion picture, has been was awarded the
2014 Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in
writing for young adults. An internationally-recognized speaker,
Zusak inspires audiences with his own story of becoming a writer
and an insider’s look at the crafting of his incredibly
    celebrated novel.

A reception and book signing will follow the event. Books will be
    available for sale.

This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are
required. For more information on this event, please contact the
