Welcome to the Rhodes Education Program Web site!

Program Overview

The Education Program is part of  the Department of Psychology and offers a sequence of courses in education, psychology, and supporting fields which lead to a Minor in Educational Studies.  The minor is designed to:

  • Provide a basic understanding of the American system of education as well as the teaching and learning process.
  • Allow students to design a set of related courses to match their interests and goals.
  • Provide a number of field experiences in the Memphis area which will help the student ascertain their interests and goals.
  • Prepare interested students for graduate schools of education and professional licensure programs at the graduate level.

Although licensure to teach is not offered at Rhodes, a partnership between Rhodes and the Peabody College of Human Development at Vanderbilt University facilitates the admission of qualified Rhodes students into the Master of Education (M.Ed.) program at Peabody.  This enables the student to earn both the M.Ed. and licensure.
