Academic Accommodations
Reasonable accommodations are individualized and flexible, based on the nature of your documented disability and the requirements of the specific courses you are taking each semester.
Some of the more commonly requested academic adjustments, auxiliary aids and accommodations include:
- Assistive technology
- Books on tape
- Captions for film and videos
- Extended time on exams
- Note takers, readers and scribes
- Preferential classroom seating
- Permission to tape record class lectures
- Testing in a distraction-limited environment
- Use of a spellchecker or calculator for in-class work
- Full-time status with reduced course load
Contact SDS if you have questions about specific accommodations that are not listed here or for an explanation of the extended information available in our Key to Services & Accommodations (PDF) handbook.
