Theatre Accolades and Accomplishments

The Theatre Department is proud of its students, faculty, and alumni and their many accomplishments:

Prof. Joy Brooke Fairfield performed the lead role in a staged reading of playwright Carey Crim’s “Never Not Once” at the annual conference of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE)  in Las Vegas on Aug. 7, 2017. Winner of the 2017 Jane Chambers Feminist Playwriting Competition, the play deals with the emotional consequences of sexual assault through the story of a woman who decides to find her father, the man who assaulted her mother in college.

Prof. Joy Brooke Fairfield will direct a collaborative, site-specific performance at Documenta, a prestigious exhibition of contemporary art in Kassel, Germany, held every five years as a “museum of 100 days.” Fairfield will create a performance that contributes to conversations about environmental intimacy with award-winning performance artists Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens. It runs June 14-20, 2017.
