Commerce and Business
Welcome to the Department of Commerce and Business where students study the theories that undergird commerce and business; the methods of the functional areas of commerce and business—accounting, finance, marketing and management; and the broader social and historical perspective of commerce and business. The Commerce and Business major is excellent preparation for successful entry and advancement in the major functional areas of business. Moreover, the Department’s Executive in Residence provides one-on-one and classroom professional development and internship guidance for all Commerce and Business majors as they plan and prepare for their careers.
A major in Commerce and Business is excellent preparation for graduate study in law, medicine, and each of the functional areas of business. Our majors pursue successful careers in accounting, marketing, sales, advertising, customer relations, financial planning, investment banking, human resource management, not-for-profits, and as entrepreneurs.
