The Rhodes College Athletic Department held its annual Awards Banquet April 24 honoring student-athletes. This year’s recipient of the Rebecca Rish Gay award is golfer Mackenzie Cohen, and the recipient of the Walter E. Gay award are baseball player Blake Glauben and Tyler Gee, basketball player
The Rebecca Rish Gay and Walter E. Gay awards were established in 1997 in honor of the parents of Libby Daughdrill, wife of Rhodes past president James Daughdrill. The awards honor the outstanding female and male athletes of the year.
The banquet also included the George Lapides Sportsmanship Award given to the senior athletes who best exemplify the highest level of sportsmanship. Volleyball player Alex Overstreet and lacrosse player John Wancowicz received the award.
