Prof. Gibson Leads Discussion About James Baldwin at Indie Memphis Film Festival

Dr. Ernest L. Gibson III of the Rhodes Department of English was invited by the Indie Memphis Film Festival to introduce Raoul Peck’s documentary on James Baldwin, “I Am Not Your Negro,” which premiered at Studio and encored at Hattiloo Theater on Nov. 5. 

He followed the film with a discussion of Baldwin, his unfinished work “Remember This House,” the documentary, and the work of the filmmaker Peck. Gibson is a Baldwin scholar who is currently completing a book looking at male vulnerability within his novels.
