Prof. Michael Nelson of the Department of Political Science attended the second presidential debate, held on Oct. 9 at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and wrote about it for the Cook Political Report, one of the most respected political newsletters in the country.  Nelson begins by noting that the debate felt more akin to the Ali-Frazier fight he witnessed than to the three previous presidential debates he had attended. The essay goes on to offer on-the-spot reactions from both the general audience and the journalists covering the debate, along with observations about the unusual debate’s aftermath.
