Theodore Nollert ’16 Receives Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship in Austria

Theodore Nollert, a senior English major, will teach in Vienna, Austria in 2016-2017 as part of the Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship Program administered by Fulbright Austria on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education. The program places assistants from the U.S., the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Russia, and Spain into the classrooms of Austrian secondary schools to make learning a foreign language a lively cross-cultural encounter for their students. Assistants must be able to speak German. 

Nollert, who is from Edmond, OK, is a Bellingrath Scholar, a Writing Fellow, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, Mortar Board, and Omicron Delta Kappa. In the fall of 2015, he conducted research at the Newberry Library in Chicago as part of the ACM Newberry Seminar in the Humanities. While at Rhodes, he has served as an intern with the Shelby County Schools Policy Department and ArtsMemphis and was a 2015 writing intern with the National Office of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Before moving to Austria, he will spend the summer working for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth as a Senior Resident Assistant.  He is a graduate of Casady School in Oklahoma City.
