Rhodes Wins National Award For Interfaith Partnerships Making Biggest Campus Impact

Interfaith Youth Core’s (IFYC) Better Together program mobilizes college students across the country to voice their values, engage with others, and act together to make the world a better place for everyone. IFYC recently announced its end of the school year awards, and Rhodes tied with Concordia College of Moorehead, Minn. for theBiggest Campus Impact Award.

Winners receive $500 to increase the scope of their Better Together campaigns as well as two free registrations to an Interfaith Leadership Institute within the coming year.

Better Together at Rhodes College had a year packed with events including lectures, fasting and reflection, outings, religious observances, interfaith literacy and community service opportunities. Rhodes’ interfaith and Better Together activities also are featured in the May issue of Presbyterians Today.

“At Rhodes College, our dream of interfaith cooperation on campus is finally coming to life. Receiving the Biggest Campus Impact Award from the Interfaith Youth Core after three years of hard work is humbling, but it also motivates our team to continue our work at Rhodes,” says Noor O. Eltayech ’14, who is the interfaith coordinator and Better Together leader at Rhodes. “Chaplain Walter Tennyson and the Better Together leadership team have revolutionized the way students of different faiths and non-faiths engage in dialogue and action, and we are eager to continue this work of building bridges between students of faith and non-faith backgrounds.”
