On Nov. 5, 2016, Prof. Miriam Clinton of the Department of Art and Art History spoke at a conference in Athens on "New Approaches and Paradigms in Greek Architecture." Her presentation, entitled "The House of the Rhyta at Pseira:  3D Crowdsourcing in an Online Virtual Environment," discussed her archaeological research on Crete, in which she and Ansel MacLaughlin '16 and Kayce Boehm '19 built a 3D digital reconstruction of a house from ca. 1450 BCE. Prof. Clinton outlined her plans to use the 3D model as the basis for an online study of how people interacted with ancient space and urged the assembled scholars to consider carefully how they can use technological advancements as research tools, rather than just gimmicks.  She and Prof. Darren Floyd will be working with Memphis Center student fellows in spring 2017 to continue developing the model and building an educational game from it.  The presentation is available online here.
