Prof. Jeff Jackson Co-Edits Special Issue of French Historical Studies

Rhodes Associate Professor of History Jeffrey A. Jackson has co-edited, with Elinor Accampo of University of Southern California, the most recent issue of French Historical Studies, the leading journal on the history of France. This special issue focuses on the theme of disasters in French history.

According to Jackson and Accampo, historians have focused on the complex causes and social impact of specific disasters; explored the human-nature interaction embedded in catastrophic events; and studied the aftermath of disasters, how people make sense of them, and how people integrate those experiences into collective memory.

Jackson’s expertise includes the history of natural disasters, modern Europe and France, and the history of jazz.
