Prof. Ernest L. Gibson III Receives Distinguished Dissertation Award

Dr. Ernest L. Gibson III, assistant professor of English at Rhodes, recently received the Esther M. Terry Distinguished Dissertation Award from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His 2012 dissertation “In Search of the Fraternal: Salvific Manhood and Male Intimacy in the Fiction of James Baldwin,” was selected for this biennial award.

This month, Gibson will deliver a paper in Montpellier, France on a chapter from his current book project at the International Conference on author James Baldwin and will be spending time researching Baldwin′s time in Paris and Saint Paul de Vence.
