Philosophy Alum Ian Todd ’09 Wins Houston Award for Volunteer Management

Alumnus Ian Todd, who is volunteer coordinator at BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions in Houston, TX, recently received the 2013 Joan Waite Hanlon Memorial Award for Outstanding Professionalism in the Field of Volunteer Management. The award is presented by the Houston Association of Volunteer Administrators.

In addition, Houston Mayor Annise Parker proclaimed Dec. 11, 2013 "Ian Todd Day” and commended his accomplishments at BARC which include building a strong and collaborative team of staff members, supporters and volunteers.

Since 2010, Todd reports he has increased the number of BARC unique volunteers participating annually by 360 percent and the annual total of volunteer service hours by 183 percent. Among his many activities at Rhodes, Todd was as Summer Service coordinator and participant in the Bonner Scholarship Program.

He graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in philosophy.
