Two Exchanges in Germany
The Eberhard-Karls-Universitat, Tubingen
This is a bilateral exchange. This location has a reputation as one of the outstanding universities in Europe. Founded in 1477, the institution has had a significant influence on the course of German intellectual history. Tubingen is located about an hour’s train ride from Stuttgart, Germany. It is considered a small, university town; however, there are approximately 26,000 students enrolled in the university. Private housing is very difficult to procure in the city and students are urged to apply to be housed in a student dormitory as soon as possible. Students may study for either a semester or academic year. You may find additional information on the Eberhard-Karls-Universitat Tubingen website.
This is a bilateral exchange. The University of Koblenz-Landau is a young, mid-sized university split between two campuses: one in Koblenz and one in Landau. The University’s academic profile is distinguished by the Education Sciences, the Humanities, Cultural Science, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Computer Science and Psychology. This profile is the foundation for a diverse program of studies and opportunities for continuing education, as well as for scientific basic and applied research. There are approximately 13,000 students enrolled, half of whom are in Koblenz, and half in Landau. Compared to large universities, the lectures and studies occur on a smaller scale, which supports the communication among students and between students and faculty. The university cities of Koblenz and Landau and their surrounding regions (Middle Rhine and Southern Palatinate) are also especially attractive. You may find additional information on the Universitat Koblenz Landau website.
Regarding Student Visas
Exchange Students are responsible for obtaining their own visas. Countries′ immigration policies change periodically; the absolute best source of information is the Consulate of the country for which you′re attempting to obtain a visa.
A student visa is a document issued by a country granting an individual permission to enter a country with the express purpose of completing studies there at a recognized institution. The process of obtaining a visa to study in another country can take weeks or months, so it is important to begin the process as soon as possible after being accepted to the exchange. Without a visa, you may not be allowed to enter the foreign country, even upon arrival at their airport.
