Register for the Career Advancement Seminar for Seniors (CASS), which focuses on topics that will prepare you for life after graduation (offered during the fall semester). Fee is $10.
Attend one of the Senior Registrations offered at the beginning of each semester.
Make a notebook to include all of your job search materials.
Attend workshops on resume writing and interviewing techniques.
Participate in a video-taped mock interview to practice your interviewing skills. Contact Career Services to schedule a mock interview.
Apply to graduate and professional schools. Attend Grad School Week in the fall.
Begin to develop a professional wardrobe for interviews and your future job.
Sign up for the dinner etiquette program "Put Your Best Fork Forward" as soon as you receive an invitation.
Open a credentials file. A credentials file consists of a resume, up to four letters of recommendation, and student-teaching evaluations (if applicable). At your request, the file can be sent to prospective employers/graduate admissions personnel for a charge of $3.00. Your credentials file will be maintained for seven years at no cost.
Contact faculty and employers in order to obtain letters of recommendation.
Attend special programs related to your major.
Visit the Career Library weekly to learn about new job listings.
Read The Career Appeal for job listings and on-campus recruiting dates.
Browse CareerLynX to identify full-time employment opportunities.
Investigate online career resources.
Take advantage of the On-campus Recruiting program, which allows you to interview with major corporations, government agencies, and others.
Attend the Career Fair Expo and meet representatives from a variety of employers.
Polish your final resume.
Continue to refine your job search skills, as you will find them to be important throughout your lifetime.
