Attend the Sophomore Career Series (SCS), a career-planning program offered during the fall semester. Fee is $20.

Participate in the Rhodes Shadow Program. The Shadow Program gives you the opportunity to spend the day with an employer in a career you are considering.

If you are still undecided on a major, make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss your major options. You can also:

  • Conduct informational interviews. Meet with friends, family, professors and professionals in your field of interest to learn about career options and/or to solicit assistance during your job search.
  • Research information pertaining to at least two careers each month. Broaden your base of knowledge about potential careers.

Read your Get-A-Life e-newsletter. Sent weekly via email, this newsletter is specifically tailored for Second Years. Get-A-Life provides information on upcoming programs sponsored by Career Services. The newsletter also provides a brief job/volunteer opportunity listing.

Become involved in the student chapters of professional associations and contact those associations for career information. The Career Library has the addresses and phone numbers of many associations. In addition, most associations maintain websites.

Plan for a summer job or internship. The Career Library has extensive information on internships and summer jobs across the country and around the world.

Register with CareerLynX to look for internships and on- or off-campus jobs.

Investigate online career resources.

Continue to maintain and enhance your grades. 

Revise your resume. It’s a good idea to do this annually so it’s ready when you want to apply for jobs, internships and graduate school.
