Description of French

Students majoring in French study one of the major languages of the world and prepare in literature, language, culture, and linguistics for professions in international business, banking, trade, travel, and other professions in the public and private sector. Primary emphasis for French majors is on French-speaking countries including France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Canada. Nevertheless, the development of language proficiency and an understanding of the French-speaking world will make a student majoring in French a valuable asset for many organizations.
