Career Advising Team
Gain valuable paraprofessional experience while assisting Career Services.
Career Advisors are integral members of the Career Services staff, serving as peer mentors and campus leaders who promote career development. Sponsored by the Rhodes Student Associate Program, CAT members also work to increase student awareness of career development issues and Career Services resources, programs and services.
Benefits of the CAT program include:
- A salary of $10.00 per hour working 10 hours per week (two-semester commitment)
- In-depth training and instruction in job search strategies, interviewing and advanced resume and cover letter writing strategies
- Networking opportunities with employers and alumni
- Access to all resources of Career Services, including career counseling, self-assessment tools, computer software and Internet programs
- Development of peer mentoring and presentation skills
- Opportunity to apply creative abilities to a dynamic working environment
CAT candidate requirements include:
- A high level of motivation for work with students
- Enthusiasm for learning and mentoring others in the career development process
- A desire to develop career planning and job search skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work well with others in individual and group
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior.
- Preferred: Prior employment experience and/or leadership and student involvement; cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
