Auto Accidents / Driving on Campus
If you drive on the Rhodes campus, keep in mind that the same laws that govern your driving on city streets apply here. There are speed limits, pedestrian crossings and no parking zones. And if you violate driving and parking regulations, you will receive citations with fines from Campus Safety. A few things to keep in mind:
- The campus speed limit is 20 mph.
- Pedestrians have the right of way.
- Do not drive on the grass.
- Auto accidents on campus must be reported to Campus Security (hit-and-run accidents are taken very seriously).
- Parking is allowed only in marked locations.
If you are involved in an auto accident on campus, Rhodes College Campus Safety will gladly complete an accident report. While most insurance companies will accept our reports for purposes of an accident claim, we are not sworn officers, and we will not determine fault.
Drivers who become involved in hit-and-run accidents or when it is determined that alcohol is involved in an accident may be sanctioned severely by the college and/or in certain aggravated cases referred to law enforcement.
If you have questions about driving regulations at Rhodes, please contact Campus Safety at Ext. 3880.
