What Is "The Big Diehl"?

The Big Diehl is a programming initiative from the Division of Student Affairs that aims to provide social opportunities for students in Memphis and the surrounding area for little to no cost. The Big Diehl allows the college to support its students enjoying some of the things Memphis and the mid-south have to offer. The event calendar is planned ahead of time and publicized with flyers posted at the beginning of each semester and the announcement boards across campus. Past Big Diehl events include: trips to Atlanta, St. Louis, and North Carolina,  Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis’ NBA basketball, and Memphis Redbirds, the St. Louis Cardinals′ AAA affiliate, games. Recently, students went whitewater rafting in Eastern Tennessee and played paintball in Northern Mississippi.

The Big Diehl is organized by a committee of students and staff who plan and organize 10 or more different events each semester.

Event Guidelines

All the events are for RHODES STUDENTS only.

When signing up for an event, students may sign-up one, and only one, additional student. Most events will require that students sign up or pick up tickets in Burrow Hall on the 4th floor. Students will receive more information and sign up details in the Thursday announcements.

Some events may require students to sign up or purchase a ticket ahead of time. Payment may be required and due when signing up.

More information about the events will become available as the dates get closer. Please e-mail sdasstud@rhodes.edu if you have any questions, comments or ideas for The Big Diehl.
