Eating in The Rat

Right now your mother is concerned about what you’re eating.

She’s got a point—if you’re running on empty, you won’t be able to think, grow or play. And because all those things are important at Rhodes, our dining options are designed to offer you variety, flavor, nutrition and convenience.

Four venues and counting—we’re getting creative.

We know it gets boring to eat the same kind of food at the same place every day, several meals a day. We’ve come up with four dining options that will keep you happily eating on campus:

  • Catherine Burrow Refectory—“The Rat”—Offers fresh food stations where you can get traditional meat and vegetables, pasta, vegetarian and vegan, Asian, seasonal fruits and salads, and fresh-baked breads and pastries. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • The Loft Lounge—Okay, this one is technically part of the Burrow Refectory, but here you can hang out and watch TV or surf the Net from a cushy leather sofa. And for something really different, several times a year we’ll host a special culinary event with limited seating by reservation! Open from lunch through late evening.
  • The Lynx Lair—Located in the Bryan Campus Life Center, the newly renovated Lynx Lair is a casual dining venue and pub with deli items, Mediterranean cuisine, sushi and more. The pub serves draft beer (proof of age required) in the afternoons and evenings. Open for lunch, dinner and late evening snacks.
  • The Middle Ground—A 24/7 hub of activity, and not just because of the Starbucks coffee and tea drinks. This high-tech coffeehouse offers a wireless environment with six computers for checking email, four for general use, a plasma-screen television and comfortable seating. Serving sushi, specialty salads, gourmet sandwiches and coffee through late evening—and the common area is open round the clock.

Four meal plans to fit your dietary needs and budget.

Convenience and balanced choices make it hard to beat our campus dining options. Choose from 7, 15 and 21 meals per week for residentail students and 5, 7, 15, or 21 for commuting students—whichever plan best fits your needs. Use your meal plans at “The Rat”, Lynx Lair and the Middle Ground.
